he Cardinals went a perfect 4-0 at the Coppell Winter Classic, finishing as Tournament Champions. Challenged by four tough opponents, the Cards had an answer every time.
They opened the tournament with a 77-69 win over The Colony before matching up against top 6A talent Grand Oaks. In an offensive shootout by both teams, the Cardinals prevailed 86-83. Next up was private-school foe St. Mark's, where the Lions were tamed in the semifinals by a score of 70-60.
The championship matchup featured the Greenhill Hornets. Having already beaten Greenhill earlier this preseason, the Hornets came out hungry for revenge and led for most of the game. Trailing 58-55, Grant Scott buried a clutch three at the buzzer to force overtime. Ja'Meir Hayfort opened OT with another three to keep the momentum rolling, and Landry Ferguson's back-to-back triples provided the final push as the Cardinals defeated the Hornets once again.
The Cardinals are crowned Coppell Winter Classic Champions. Ja'Meir Hayfort earned All-Tournament honors, and Landry Ferguson was named Tournament MVP.
