About the Program
The Boys Basketball Program is led by Head Coach Dan Lee.  John Paul II Basketball competes in the largest division of private schools in Texas.  Our district is TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) 6A, District 2.  Within our district, we compete against Bishop Dunne Catholic School, Bishop Lynch Catholic School, Parish Episcopal School, and Prestonwood Christian Academy.  John Paul II Basketball is currently in its 13th Varsity season and has 45+ athletes.  We carry 3 teams, Varsity, JV and Freshman with each team having an individual coach and the Varsity having 2 coaches.  Each team plays about 35 games a season and practices on all non games days except Sunday.

Coaching Philosophy
John Wooden said, "happiness begins when selfishness ends". When it comes to a team, no truer words have ever been spoken.  Therefore, when I'm coaching a team my goal is to prepare student athletes for life by using the game of basketball as a model for future success in life.  Through the implementation of principles such as hard work, accountability, dedication and teamwork I feel that both the individual athlete and the entirety of the team are gaining an understanding that they are apart of something bigger than themselves.  When the individual as well as the team gains this understanding, anything is possible.  "We Not Me".
