HOUSTON: The Boys Basketball team traveled to Houston this past weekend to compete in the Houston Christian Tournament. The Cardinals went 3-2 on the weekend, beating The John Cooper School, Huntsville, and TCA, but lost to George Ranch and Texas Christian. While the Cardinals lost the opening game to George Ranch, 51-61, leading scorers were Nate Dominick (12 points) and
Jalen Tot &
Jajuan Tot (8 points each), they responded with a win in Game 2, beating John Cooper 71-59, as
Donavon Johnson led the team in scoring with 12 points, while
Jerand Bradley,
Jalen Tot &
Jajuan Tot each had 10 points. The Cardinals notched back to back wins by beating Huntsville in Game 3, by a score of 63-55. Leading scorers include
Nathan Dominick (15 points),
Dany Ghreichi (12 points), and
Jerand Bradley (9 points). The Cardinals led for most of Game 4 but came up short, falling to Texas Christian 43-45, as
Donavon Johnson led all scorers with 9 points, and
Nathan Dominick,
Jalen Tot, and
Jajuan Tot all tallied 7 points a piece. In the final game of the tournament, the Cardinals got back to their winning ways with a strong finish over TCA, 52-35. Leading scorers for the Cardinals were
Nathan Dominick (15 points), and
Donavon Johnson (10 points). Coach Anderson spoke about his team's overall performance, "I was proud of our team for playing through adverse situations, battling vs some great opponents and growing as a team by learning to trust each other.
Nathan Dominick lead us in scoring averaging 12 ppg and relentlessly attacked the glass,
Dany Ghreichi was a consistent shooter on a weekend where we did not shoot the ball very well, and
Jaddai Henry & Jerand Bradly both brought a much needed spark of energy with their activity and athleticism." The Cardinals have a few days off before traveling west this weekend for the Keller / Fossil Ridge Tournament.
