DALLAS: The Cardinal Track & Field team went to work on Saturday in the 2nd DFW Private Schools Circuit Meet, held at the new June Shelton School track and field complex. The squad has been working hard all offseason and the athletes were clearly fired up to compete this weekend. Included in the meet were Bishop Lynch, Cistercian, Greenhill, Hockaday, Prince of Peace, Shelton, St. Marks, and Ursuline. The Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls teams both finished on top, securing wins in the first meet of the year.

Highlights of the meet include
Caden Kitler, who took down another school record, throwing a 49-3 ¾ in the shot put. Additionally,
Lanie Meeks' new PR in the 400m was good enough to drop her own school record with a 59.67!
Other notable performances include:
Markus Christie (50.88) and
Brayden Wolfson (54.44) in the 400m,
Alhena Kerawala (2:43.11) in the 800m, and the Boys 4x100m Relay (44.55) consisting of
Uriah Boutte,
Jude Nicolaidis,
Terrance Brooks, and
Markus Christie. The Pole Vault crew of
Andrew Moreno,
Emery Korinek,
Alex Foster,
Emmy Noyes and
Carson Green, made great contributions to help both the boys and girls teams place 1st overall.
"The efforts to stay in shape during all these challenges has shown," said head track coach
Jeff Jackson. "Consistent hard work pays off!"
Perhaps one of the most challenging sporting events to host during the COVID era, Coach Jackson elaborated on what it took to pull off the meet. "The events were put on a schedule to promote arrival/departure times, thus limiting the number of people at any one time. Schools were assigned designated areas, to promote separation of communities. Masks were worn by everyone in the stadium at all times possible. Announcements were made promoting social distancing, face coverings, and sanitizing at any of the various sanitizing stations throughout the stadium. And thankfully, the weather held off and we completed every event."
