About the Program
The John Paul II Boys Lacrosse Program competes in the THSLL (Texas High School Lacrosse League) North Class C. The statewide league consists of all teams from multi-school public programs to private schools. 2026 was the program’s first season stepping up to Class C, and the team took on the challenge by winning the District Championship! Lacrosse is a spring sport, with pre-season practices starting in January and running through the State Tournament in May. Boys lacrosse is open to all male students at JP II. The team consists of a high number of multi-sport athletes, which we highly recommend, but we do also offer off-season training in the fall for those not involved in a fall sport. This upcoming year, the boys lacrosse program will be entering its 10
th season overall and 4
th under Head Coach JR Stahl. In 3 seasons under Coach Stahl, the team has an overall record of 34-16, with a district record of 15-3.
Coaching Philosophy
Our number one focus is to represent our parents, families, and Cardinal family in a positive manner at all times. The standard is to act as gentlemen on and off the field. This means that our young men are respectful, courteous, empathetic, humble, and honest/honorable.
We have high expectations, solely based on effort and work ethic. If those things, which we can control, are taken care of, the results are already positive. While we strive to win games, district championships, and state championships, it’s through the understanding that this is done by becoming more disciplined, better teammates, better first-time listeners, and gaining the confidence to know that we can have high standards because we are capable of accomplishing great things.
The final goal is simple: Leave the school and lacrosse program better than you found it.
