About the Program
Tennis at John Paul II consists of three distinct levels. Varsity, Junior Varsity, and a developmental program to teach beginners about the game. January through May, Varsity practice is during class on A day and after school on B day. Junior Varsity and the developmental program practice during class on B day. Assessments by the coaching staff determine which level a player is placed. Off-season, Varsity and Junior Varsity do not have tennis class. Instead, our players work with personal coaches as well as take part in clinics, camps, and tournaments. John Paul II does offer a beginner tennis program as a class that can be taken in the off-season. There will be evaluations in the off-season to determine in season level placement.
Coaching Philosophy
At John Paul II, Tennis is designed to meet the needs of players at all levels. We offer schedule flexibility for the elite tournament player, on court strategy training for the Junior Varsity player, and basics of the game for beginners. Our mission is to challenge each player to perform at the highest level possible.
Program Goals
If your objective is to win a state championship, play at the college level, or just obtain an understanding of tennis as a lifetime sport, John Paul II Tennis will work with you to meet your goals and objectives.
