Lady Cardinals Basketball is led by Head Coach John Griffin and Assistant Coaches Arabella DeAngelis and Tyra White. Coach Griffin began coaching girls’ basketball in the 2013–14 season after a long and successful career coaching boys, and the results speak for themselves. He holds an impressive 305–112 overall record, 11 regional finals appearances, 5 state final four trips, 4 state finals appearances, and 3 state championships (2017–18, 2021–22, 2022–23). Many athletes who have come through his program have continued their careers at major Division I, II, and III schools.
The JPII Girls Basketball Program prides itself on family. All athletes, from 9th through 12th grade, work together with one shared goal: to be the most successful girls basketball program in the state. The coaching staff is dedicated to putting the girls in situations that prepare them for that challenge—on the court, in the weight room, and in life. The culture built within the program focuses on character development, competitiveness, and a team-first mentality.
Competing in the largest classification in TAPPS District 2-6A, the Lady Cardinals commit to a year-round approach. The program includes the athletic period, off-season development, summer training, and pre-season preparation to challenge the girls mentally, physically, and spiritually.
JPII Girls Basketball = FTF (For The Family).
