John Paul II High School is proud to announce the hiring of Roberto Gallegos as the new Head Baseball Coach. Coach Gallegos brings with him a wealth of experience at the collegiate level, including assistant coaching roles at The University of Oklahoma, Navarro College, and most recently, The University of Texas at Arlington. He also spent 15 years as a professional baseball instructor, head coach, and general manager at the Dallas Baseball Academy of Texas (DBAT) in Addison.
A former player himself, Gallegos began his collegiate baseball career at Navarro Junior College before transferring to Northwestern State University in Louisiana, where he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
"I am very excited and feel blessed to have the opportunity to be the head coach here at John Paul II High School and be a part of the Cardinal family," said Gallegos. "I'm honored to be heading up the baseball program and I am looking forward to getting started working with the guys. I'm very grateful to our President Casey Buckstaff, Principal Dr. Danny Ledbetter, Athletic Director George Teague, and Boys AD Dan Lee for providing me with a chance to coach here."
Athletic Director George Teague shared his enthusiasm for the new hire: "Coach Gallegos is very excited and honored to take on the challenge of guiding the baseball program, as he is a perfect fit for what we need moving forward here at JPII. His willingness to go the extra mile to help the student-athletes is immeasurable, and we are lucky to have him aboard."
Coach Gallegos is married to his high school sweetheart, Mandy, and they have two children, Cruz and Mila, with a third on the way.
