MANSFIELD:  The Varsity Hockey Team faced off against Mansfield for a third time this season, as the Cardinals looked to continue their 5 game unbeaten streak.  The Cardinals defeated Mansfield 3-1 in their last matchup, while Mansfield took the opener 4-3 back in September.  This time would be different, as JPII was defeated on the road 1-4.

The Cardinals scored their lone goal of the game in the opening period, as junior captain Jared Burkhart netted his 8th goal of the year thanks to an assist from junior Timothy Nickerson.  Mansfield caught on fire in the second period however, and took a 2-1 lead after the Cardinals were caught in penalty trouble.  Two more Mansfield goals in the 3rd period would seal it, with the Cardinals falling 1-4.  

With the loss, JPII, now 5-2, sits in second place behind Mansfield, and comfortably ahead of third place teams Keller and Shreveport.  The Cardinals look to bounce back while hosting Keller this Sunday at 5pm at the Plano Starcenter.
