Patricia Opon recently retired after 31 years as an educator after having been honored as Teacher of the Year, Disney Teacher of the Year, and Principal of the Year. She began her career as a math teacher, enjoyed coaching cheerleading, and later served as a principal, finally finishing her career at St. Mark Catholic School. Since 2021, Mrs. Opon has been a dedicated substitute at JPII, where she enjoys seeing two of her grandchildren in the halls, with hopes that several more will
soon become Cardinals too. Recently, Patricia dusted off her pom poms and joined our cheer team as assistant coach with the goal of supporting and inspiring all the athletes to become the best version of themselves they can.
Coach Opon and Paul have been married for 52 years and were blessed with 4 beautiful children. Now that they are retired, Patricia and Paul enjoy traveling together and gardening, well maybe Paul’s not so thrilled with the gardening part. Their greatest joy is just living life with family and spending time with their 7 grandkids.
