About the Program
The JPIIHS Lady Cardinal Softball team is led by Varsity Head Coach Jayme Baker-Nelson.
Player Eligibility: The JPIIHS Softball Program is open to any female athlete currently enrolled in grades 9-12 at John Paul II High School. A Softball preseason skills and conditioning is offered during the first semester but is not a prerequisite for trying out for the team. Athletes that play other sports can try-out and play softball once their other sport’s season is complete. During the season, practice is scheduled on A days until 4:30 and B days from 4:00-5:30.
Coaching Philosophy
Our goals are to develop young women physically and mentally through our competitive fast pitch softball program while providing a stepping stone for those players desiring to compete at the higher collegiate levels. We will openly develop opportunities for young women through individual instruction, specific direction, and game experience. Our players are coached through the application of our core values of education, teamwork, positive discipline, fun and personal accomplishment.
Program Goals
Our goals for the program is to continue to improve the skills of the athletes while emphasizing the five R's of our school: respecting others, being a role model, displaying reverence, showing resilience in times of adversity and demonstrating responsibility.
Program History
Since 2013 the softball team has qualified for the TAPPS 6A playoffs.
