About the Program
The JPIIHS Varsity Swim Team is led by Head Coach Grant Miller and Assistant Coach Paul Lyons.

The Cardinal Swim Team today consists of 25 athletes. We are a co-ed program that trains and competes together during a 5-month season starting in the fall. JPII Competes in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) North District, Division I. We compete annually with teams from Bishop Lynch, Nolan Catholic, Ursuline Academy, Prestonwood Christian, Trinity Christian Academy and Parish Episcopal School..

Program Details:
Swimming is part of a student's daily school schedule and routine at JPII
Practices are held at Oak Point Recreation center in Plano and rotate between 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM (A days) and 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (B days)
Competition and meets vary each year, with most held on either a Friday or Saturday during the Fall/Winter seasons in and around the DFW area.
State championships rotate between DFW, Houston and San Antonio every 3 years.

This is an all-inclusive team and family that welcomes anyone willing to work hard in pursuit of individual and team goals in the pool. Participants vary from beginner level all the way to aspiring Division I college athletes.

Coaching Philosophy
We believe that hard work, consistency, variety, challenge and attention to detail provide the right framework to make a swimmer successful. Racing is why we are here, and getting better at racing comes from consistently challenging what you think you can or can't do. Combine that with a family of support, and there's nothing that can't be accomplished.

"It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen" - John Wooden

Program Goals
In the end, our overriding goal is to mold and grow better swimmers, better leaders and better people. What we do is an extension of the beliefs and goals of JPII itself and we live those values every day.

Competitively, our goals are to compete for best times individually, to win team competitions and to compete and win at the highest level possible.
