About the Program
The Cardinal Cross Country Team is led by Director of Running Jeff Jackson, Head Coach David Nanez, and Assistant Coach Kadeisha Parnell.  The 80+ member team practices 3-5 days a week, M-F, primarily after school in events involving: throwing, jumping, vaulting, sprinting, running and relays. We have a lot of cross-sport athletes. Pre-season starts in January, with meets starting in March. Varsity and JV compete as a boys team or girls team, traveling together to meets on Saturdays. The JPII Track & Field competes in the largest division of TAPPS-6A, North Region, District 2. The program has qualified a member to State competition every year since 2010 and last year boasts a State Champion hurdler and 7 State Championship medals.


Coaching Philosophy
We, the JPIIHS Running Teams, are leaders in sportsmanship and achievement. As a team, we support each other and strive to better ourselves and those around us as individuals, athletes, and community members. We are athletic representatives of our family, team, school, and community. We believe in quality of education and athletic competition.

Our goals are to: (1) help young people develop strong moral character, (2) develop athletes who have individual responsibility and team accountability, and (3) encourage a lifetime participation in athletic excellence.

• 2018 - 9 Athletes in 8 Individual events and 1 Relay (6 Bronze and 1 Gold Medal)
• 2017 - 6 Athletes in 5 Individual events and 1 Relay (1 Silver Medal)

• 2015 - 7 Athletes in 5 events and 1 relay
• 2014 - 3 Athletes in 3 events
• 2013 - 4 Athletes in 4 events (1 Silver and 2 Gold Medals)
