Varsity Water Polo makes headway at Hebron Hawk Invite #2

Cardinals go 1-3 on the weekend, keep it close against Richardson & Keller

THE COLONY:  The Varsity Boys & Girls Water Polo teams went back to work on Saturday, competing in the second Hebron Hawk Invite of the season with a pair of doubleheaders.  The Varsity Boys faced a combination team from Plano and Frisco in Game 1, followed by Richardson in Game 2, while the Varsity Girls went toe-to-toe with Keller in Game 1, and wrapped up the tournament with Rockwall in Game 2.

The Varsity Girls kicked off the tournament with a defensive battle against Keller in Game 1.  The Lady Cards nearly avenged an early season 2-9 loss to Keller on Saturday morning, falling 3-4 to the Indians.  Despite the loss, the squad showed much improvement since their first meeting and will have once more chance to face the Indians next weekend at the Keller 1709.  JPII went up against a tough group from Rockwall in Game 2 and fell short 3-14 against the Yellowjackets.

The Varsity Boys, playing their first match at 2:30pm, opened up the tournament with a bang, dominating the combo squad from Plano/Frisco.  John Paul II seemed to move the ball at will and outmatched their opponents from start to finish, winning 12-5.  The Cards matched pace with a physical Richardson group in Game 2, as the two teams traded blows but ultimately came up short 9-13.  Next up for the Boys team is the JV & Consolidated Championships in two weeks.
