FT. WORTH: The Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled out West to Lake Country Christian School on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the LCCS Tournament. The Cardinals entered the competition 9-1 overall and played four games across two days, looking sharp in their first tourney action of the year.
In Game 1 on Monday morning, JPII won easily over North Texas United, to the tune of 82-55. A huge 32 point first quarter set the Cards in cruise for the rest of the game, as

On Monday afternoon, the Cards faced HSAA in Game 2 and scored their second most points in a game this season in a 92-55 win over the Angels. A 28-9 advantage in the third quarter propelled the Cardinals to victory, as Tyson (22 pts, 1 reb, 6 ast, 1 stl) and
Trey Spann (13 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast) set the pace. Kendall and Cam Corhen had a dozen points and seven rebounds apiece in the victory.
After a pair of wins on Monday, JPII earned a tournament semi-final matchup with Bishop Lynch on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals held the Friars to single digit scoring in three of four quarters, shutting down their TAPPS rivals early and often in a 73-37 rout to earn a place in the tournament championship. Senior
Manny Obaseki did some of everything for JPII, scoring eleven points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out four assists. It was a true team win, as nearly every Cardinal scored by the time the final buzzer sounded. Tyson (14 pts), Corhen (10 pts), Kendall (8 pts),
Cameron Brown (7 pts) all contributed in the win, while a trio of Cards scored six points each (
Trey Spann,
Gabe Warren,
Elijah Obaseki).
In the championship against Prestonwood, JPII relied heavily on its bigs, as Tyson (28 pts, 2 reb, 8 ast, 2 stl) and Cam Corhen (15 pts, 9 reb, 5 stl, 2 blk) carried the Cardinals to victory in a physical 63-52 win. The Cards also got big minutes from Brown (7 pts, 5 reb, 2 stl), Eli Obaseki (6 pts, 7 reb, 1 stl, 2 blk), and Kendall (5 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast).
Three Cardinals -
