DALLAS: The Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled to Bishop Dunne on Friday night for a district matchup with the Falcons. The Cardinals overwhelmed Bishop Dunne and won handily to remain unbeaten in district play, while improving their overall record to 31-1.
JPII was without several starters due to illness, but the Cardinal reserves filled in just fine in their teammates' absence. JPII jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and led 48-13 at halftime. The Cards would limit the Falcons to just 7 points in the entire second half en route to a 85-20 blowout win.
Sophomore big man
Cameron Corhen led all scorers with 20 points and was an incredible +51 on the night, while also snagging eight rebounds and nabbing five steals. Four other Cardinals turned in double digit scoring nights, as
Nick Kendall (13 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast),
Matt Lehmann (12 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast),
Donavon Johnson (11 pts, 5 reb), and
Alec Zambie (11 pts, 7 reb), all contributed in big ways on offense.
The Cardinals now turn their focus to a road visit at Bishop Lynch on Tuesday night where they can secure their first district title since 2013.
