PLANO:  The Varsity Football team hosted Legacy Christian Academy on Friday for Cardinal Football's annual Future Cardinal Night game.  More than 40 Dallas Parochial League athletes attended the game and hung out with the team on the sidelines and ran through the tunnel with the Cardinals.  The game itself was close in the first half, with both teams tied at 14 heading into the break.  The Cardinals ran away with it in the final 24 minutes, outscoring the Eagles 27-0 on the way to a convincing 41-14 win.  
The Eagles opened up the first quarter scoring with a 26-yard TD run but the Cardinals quickly answered to make it 7 apiece after junior QB 
Grayson James (32-42, 377 yds, 5 TDs) connected wity senior TE 
Donavon Johnson (5 rec, 68 yds, 2 TDs) on a 14-yard TD strike up the seam.  The Eagles scored first in the second quarter to make it 14-7 and the Cardinals responded in the final seconds of the quarter to make it 14-14 at halftime after James found junior WR 
Jerand Bradley (12 rec, 117 yds, 2 TDs) in the back corner of the endzone.  
The second half was a different story for the Cardinals, as the JPII defense tightened up and shutout the Eagles for the rest of the night.  James and junior WR 
Myles Parker (8 rec, 106 yds) hooked up for 6 on an 18-yard dart to go up 21-14 at the end of the third quarter.  The final 12 minutes was all JPII as James found Bradley on a screen that the junior took 45 yards to the house for his second score of the game, making it 28-14 Cardinals.  James spotted Johnson again wide open in the middle of the field and the senior TE walked it in for his second TD of the night to put the Cardinals ahead 34-14.  Senior RB 
Carson Collins (77 rush yards, 1 rec, 42 rec. yds, 1 TD) capped the scoring on a 32-yard scamper to seal the game.  
The Cardinals finished the game with 464 yards of total offense, holding Legacy to 191 total yards and only allowing 9 passing yards from the Eagles.  Senior DL 
Kevin Harris led JPII in tackles with 14 on the night, followed closely behind by senior LB 
Cole Record (11 tackles) and junior LB/TE 
Kyle Taylor (9 tackles).  Junior LB 
Brandon Tucker was active on defense, recording 7 tackles, while freshman DB 
Braxton Myers notched 6 tackles of his own.  Junior LB 
Charles Daniels III was named Defensive Player of the Game for his 5 tackles and effort throughout the night.  
Grayson James was named Offensive Player of the Game for his work in the air, and now sits at 1133 passing yards for the season on 70 of 110 attempts, while tallying 16 TDs and only 2 interceptions.  Junior LB 
Max Mazur was named Special Teams Player of the Week and was a force to be reckoned with on the kickoff and punt coverage units, notching two tackles and two pancakes on the night.  
JPII goes back to work this week preparing for a road matchup McKinney Christian on Friday at McKinney's Ron Poe Stadium, kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
