PLANO:  The Varsity Girls Soccer Team hosted Ursuline Academy last night in a TAPPS District 1 matchup last night.  Looking to avenge a road loss to the Bears earlier this season, the Lady Cardinals went toe to toe with the district leaders on a windy, chilly evening.  After conceding an early goal, the Lady Cardinals settled down and kept the Bears at bay for the rest of the game.  Senior keeper Sarah Melen was spectacular in net, recording a number of diving saves throughout the match.  The Lady Cardinals had several opportunities to equalize, including a shot from junior Erin Mazza that ripped just over the crossbar early in the second half, but could not put the pieces together.  Coach Morse said about the game, "We had a rough first half giving up a goal in the first seven minutes.  The second half was better despite having to play into the wind.  We never stopped fighting."  The Lady Cardinals now sit at 5-3, securely in 3rd place in District 1 behind Ursuline and Bishop Lynch with two games remaining before playoffs.
